SCQF Information

At Dunfermline High School, we are committed to developing understanding of the Scottish Credit and Qualifications Framework to ensure  equitable opportunities for all learners. 

What is the SCQF?

The SCQF is Scotland's national qualifications framework – this stands for Scottish Credit and Qualifications Framework.

This means that any qualification that is completed can be found within this. This helps schools, colleges, universities, and employers recognise and understand each different qualification. 

Qualifications delivered in Dunfermline High School are credit rated and mapped as part of the Scottish Credit and Qualification Framework (SCQF). This framework allows for the wide range of qualifications we deliver (such as National 5, Higher, National Progression Award, Skills for Work, and more...) to be recognised and developed.

How is the SCQF used?

The framework covers learning in all settings – school, college, university, youth clubs and work-based learning – allowing employers, colleges, training providers and universities to recognise these qualifications, which opens up many more opportunities for learners.

The SCQF will allow learners to understand the benefit and value of vocational qualifications. We work in partnership with colleges, employers and other schools to deliver industry recognised qualifications including HNCs, Foundation Apprenticeships, SVQs & NPAs. These qualifications have SCQF levels tagged to them, so vocational and academic qualifications are of equal value in the SCQF.

SCQF Ambassador School 

As part of our improvement priorities, staff and pupils are working together as part of the SCQF Ambassador Scheme. Our aim is to develop the leadership skills of our learners to deliver sessions that raise awareness of the framework. In addition, we aim to empower our learners to become knowledgeable guides and role models for their peers within our school community in terms of subject pathways and course choice options. 

As a school, we have recently achieved our Bronze SCQF Ambassador Award.
